might not know, but our area offers a scented product: white
truffle. We will flavour our bruschette, skewers and
anything else you may want to eat. |
Merenda
Contadina |
The
tradition of “merenda contadina” depended once
on the rhythm of field work and on the alternating seasons.
When preservation techniques didn’t as yet exist only
season products could be enjoyed.
When working hours increased also the meals were more frequent,
from three to five. The nutritional value should in fact be
suitable for the fatigue of long working days. Once and still
today the farmers work began at dawn and their breakfast consists
in omelette, peas and beans, hodgepodge or a piece of ring
shaped cake. When the bell stroke 9 in the morning, it was
time for a nourishing “merenna”. Crescia, ham
and cakes were brought by women to the fields with large baskets.
They drank water and lemon or wine or ‘Acetello’
a drink made of water and vinegar. At midday lunch was at
the farm, then back to the fields until 5pm. That was the
time for the “merennetta”, a meal halfway between
lunch and dinner, that was usually eaten after the sunset.
Agriturismo l’Ulivo (Organic farm)
brings back the ancient flavours renewing the tradition of
the farmers’ merenda. Our guests are offered only healthy
and traditional products such as home made bread, cured meat,
high hill meadow cheeses, crescia and a delightful bruschettas
with home made olive oil. It is produced by the olives of
ancient trees “the same that produced them in those
ancient times”. Jams and home baked cakes are then accompanied
by the traditional and rare Sapa, obtained by the must of
selected organic Verdicchio grapes. Excellent Verdicchio dei
Colli Esini is served. |

Gresta-Italia
farm business, that launched the Agriturismo L’Ulivo,
sells its organic products. We want people to be able to enjoy,
once at home, healthy and organic food and to compare them
with the ones they can find on the market. |
