Maiolati
Spontini is 405m above sea level. It counts 400 habitants.
In the last 30years a demographic increase has been registered
due to the development of one of its localities: Moie. The
place name is quite common in Le Marche, especially in the
“Moiette” form. It comes from Medieval Latin,
Mollie or Mollia, a place where water stagnates.

| The
other localities are mainly considered rural settlements:
Monteschiavo is now almost abandoned. It still preserves homes
in earth, as an evidence of the presence of immigrants such
as Schiavoni that came from the other shore of the Adriatic
long ago; Sisciano, perched on a hill, was an independent
castle in the Jesi dominions; Scorcelletti is only in part
under the Maiolati town council. The town is 25km from Jesi
and 46 from Ancona.
